Igbo People are known for mixing very well with any people they come in contact with. Igbo thunderbolt can authoritatively say that a true Igbo son known as Edward James Roye was the president of Liberia from 1870 to 1871 but was later overthrown. He is a descendant of the Igbo people of Nigeria and was born in the year 1815 in a place called Newark. Before he was the president of Liberia, he served as the 4th chief justice of the country from 1865 to 1868. Roye also served as a speaker of the Liberian house of representatives from 1849 to 1850

Roye ceased to be president of Liberia in the year 1970 on the 3rd of January after a coup was plotted against him. Many allies saw it as a coup d’état. His removal from office is still a discussion which remains murky. After he was removed from office, he was later arrested and died under circumstances that is hard to examine.
