IGBO LEADERS JITTERY AS BUHARI THREATENS THEM TO SPEAK UP AGAINST THE KILLINGS OF NIGER REPUBLIC CITIZENS IN IGBOLAND

The attacks by the unknown gunmen in the South-East on non-Igbo people and the law enforcement officers have once again drawn President Muhammadu Buhari’s attention and he vowed to take drastic action concerning these killings of non-Igbos in the East.

He made this known in a recent statement issued by his media assistant- Garba Shehu on Saturday. The president’s response followed news of the assassination of numerous police officers while on duty and the murder of six citizens of the Niger republic.

According to the Peoples Gazette report, Mr. President urged Igbo leaders and religious leaders to stand up and condemn the killings in the South East zone. He reaffirmed the unshakeable commitment of his government to the South East’s peace and stability as well as that of the whole nation. He expressed his sympathies to the families of the dead security personnel as well as to the government and people of the Niger Republic, whose citizens were also killed.
